4 | where is the rapture? | 1 Thess 4:17 | Mommapbs | 151782 | ||
Doc - I really struggle with preaching a pre-trib "rapture" of the church. Although I lean toward a pre-wrath "snatch" - I'm not going to go to the mat here. I believe that this reference supports a pre-millenial rapture of the Church. Also, v 15 refers to His coming - what coming? Since He came once - to die, the next time must be the second. Lastly, Acts 1:11 informs us that He will descend the same way He ascended. He ascended into heaven and a cloud received Him (Acts 1:9)- which would eventually conceal Him from their sight, so shouldn't we also expect to see Him revealed through the clouds as He descends? I think 1 Thess 4:17 echos this well. My 2 cents. I hope I haven't stirred the pot too much here. Blessings, mommapbs |

Hi, Momma! Well, if you've stirred the pot too much, I'm not one to take up such a ladel. :-) I tend to agree with your interpretation regarding this verse being a pre-mil rapture... that is, of course, if there is going to be such a thing as a mil... which thing I am ambivalent about. Here's something one can know for certain, though: Look up all the references to parousia, epiphaneia, and "day of the Lord." Write down everything you can determine from these references. (Are those exhaustive, brother Tim?) You might be able to draw some conclusoins that differ from those of Hal Lindsey. In Him, Doc |
