1 | N.T. circumcision? | Col 2:12 | Makarios | 22897 | ||
Greetings charis! The removal of our old sinful nature, which is in rebellion against God is illustrated in verse 11 in the rite of circumcision and in baptism. However, it is accomplished by a spiritual circumcision and baptism by the Holy Spirit, not through water baptism. I believe that THIS is the sign of the New Covenant and this is the circumcision of the heart (Spirit baptism), that occurs at the moment of salvation. I believe that this Spirit baptism would also fulfill Deut. 30:6. I do not believe that water baptism, in and of itself, is a fulfillment of the Old Testament command. Excellent quote of Jeremiah 4:4!! Your Brother in Christ, Nolan |

Thank you my friend! We have a lot in common, not to mention a history together.. :) So quite naturally, I wouldn't respond a whole lot to your posts (and you to mine) since we are in agreement so much! Everyone needs encouragement and I appreciate it! I will make it a point to encourage you more often and to tell you that I agree even when thats all I have to say.. :) I am grateful that we have been such blessings to each other!
