Bible Question:
Saints and brethren, Greetings in the name of Jesus! "...and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead." Colossians 2:12 NASB Is water baptism the sign of the New Covenant? Would it then be the promised 'circumcision of heart?' "Moreover the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live." Deuteronomy 30:6 NASB Also, would water baptism be a fulfilment of the Old Testament command? "Circumcise yourselves to the LORD And remove the foreskins of your heart, Men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, Or else My wrath will go forth like fire And burn with none to quench it, Because of the evil of your deeds." Jeremiah 4:4 NASB. Blessings one and all! In Christ Jesus, charis |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Acts 1:5, 11:16; Rom 6:4; 1 Cor 12:13; Gal 3:27; Col 2:12; 1 Pet 3:21 ... Charis, I believe these verses, based on the context of these passages (which includes yours), it is about the bapitism of the Holy Spirit. He coems in and changes you, including the "circumcision of heart" ... our heart changes. God wanted Israel's heart ... but it was far from Him (Isa 29:13, Matt 15:8). I hope this help, otomodachi, Searcher |
