1 | question | Col 2:12 | mbooker | 57067
the amplified version of v18: For Christ [the Messiah Himself] died for sins once [6] for all, the Righteous for the unrighteous (the Just for the unjust, the Innocent for the guilty), that He might bring us to God. In His human body He was put to death, but He was made alive in the spirit, Is '(Jesus was quicked by the Spirit during baptism in water);' your addition? If it is, I have this question. At the time of Jesus's water baptism, wasn't he already 'alive in the spirit'? It is my understanding that Jesus was born spiritually alive and when he was made sin, he died spiritually, then physically. Colossians 1:18 refers to him as 'the firstborn from among the dead;'. He wasn't the first to be born from among the physically dead (the Shunammite's son (II Kings 4:8-37), Jairus's daughter(Mark 5:20-42 and Luke 8:41-56), Lazarus (John 11:1-44) ). So, was this verse referring to being born from among the spiritually dead? If my understanding is correct, how was he 'made alive in the spirit' at his water baptism if he was already alive in the spirit? Thanks in advance for your response :) |

Dear mbooker, with love i ask, arent there some things that we just do not need the answers to? isn't there enouhg to DO with what we clearly understand already? i wonder how much it would add to our abilities in God to have answers to these and many other questions. with affection, dasev
3 | question | Col 2:12 | mbooker | 57099
Hi dasev I receive your question with love :). The reason I asked the question was because the poster said 'Jesus was quicked by the Spirit during baptism in water' and I don't have that understanding. If the poster is correct, I would like my understanding corrected. arent there some things that we just do not need the answers to? that could be but when I see something that seems contrary to what I believe, I need to know if what I believe needs adjusting or not. isn't there enouhg to DO with what we clearly understand already? for me, a big YES!!! :). And I also want to continue to 'increase in the knowledge of God' (Col 1:10), which means increase in the knowledge of the Word. And I don't impose my curosity on others. When I ask a question, I'm simply wanting to settle any questions I have in my mind. Whew!! Hope I wasn't too long winded... :) Abba Father Bless and Keep you... :) Meredith |
