1 | Ask and you will recieve?!? | Phil 4:6 | jsmith34 | 36530
What's up with prayer. I have just recently read Mathew 21:21,22/Jn 14:12-14/Mk 11:23. It seems that these verses talk of a limitless source. Yes, God is without limits, but where do you draw the line in petitioning God...your will, or His. I have always heard, "Lord Your will be done." After all even Jesus said it in the garden, but where do you draw the line in having faith that "anything" you ask for in prayer as long as it lines up with the Word of God you will have? It's a hard pill for me to swallow because it seems to appear that God just chills out and waits to answer what we ask Him...thanks...hope it's clear enough for you to answer

I don't think there is a limit to what you can ask of God. HOWEVER, it seems as though your concept of prayer is limited to asking Him for "stuff." Instead, consider prayer to be conversation, through which you grow in your knowledge of and relationship with God. In doing so, you will also learn His will, and be able to pray according to it. (I just realize how simple I made this sound - its not). Hopefully, I am not out of the bounds of this forum in recommending a book -- "Prayer: Finding the Heart's True Home" by Richard Foster.
