1 | What is "this attitude?" | Phil 3:15 | Searcher56 | 93272
Scripture ... Philippians 3:5-6 ... mommapbs, I see Paul counting his heritage, homeletics, being a heroship and holiness ... (I enjoy iliteration) as rubbish and willing to suffer the claim that would get him into good standing with God. Some Philippians and people today claim one or more of these as the reason God should let them into heaven. Christ is the only gain, that is calling on Him to be saved. Then we press on toward the mark. All my past outside and apart from Christ hinders me and I need to trash it. Searcher |

2 | What is "this attitude?" | Phil 3:15 | Mommapbs | 93284
Greetings Searcher, Thank you again for your thoughtful response. Are we agreed that the claim of Jesus' finished work alone is sufficient to get us "into good standing with God.?" Some might think that we have to give up "heritage, homeletics, being a heroship and holiness" in order to gain God's approval and we already have that in Christ! As I contemplate this portion of Scripture, I see the necessity of revisiting the Cross more and more to remind me of the price that was paid and the Grace that was bestowed . . . and the promise that I have confidence in to be fulfilled in my life! Blessings to you and yours - mommapbs |
