Hello Mommapbs, First of all, my heart really goes out to you and your family after the sudden death of your son-in-law. Phi 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: Phi 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; Phi 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 1Co 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Lets add another: 1Jo 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 1Jo 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. We are ruled by either the Holy Spirit or the spirit of antichrist. But dispite this, people try to remain neutral. This is acknowledging Christ's deity because God is jealous and does not share His glory: Isaiah 42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Isaiah 48:11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another. Joh 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: Joh 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. Joh 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. Joh 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. Joh 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. Your brother in Christ, Pastor Glenn |

Greetings Pastor Glenn - thank you for your concern, it is a hard thing to understand. The "why" has become "what are You doing Lord?" Let's talk about the word glorify - to praise or give honor. (For me it is important to note that Jesus asks GOD to glorify Him - what should this suggest to us as we seek to be valued or esteemed?) see John 7:39 - for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. (Is John speaking of the resurrection here? Is the resurrection the ultimate glorification of Jesus? Was He glorifed at His baptism? What about the Transfiguaration? Now I contrast this to Phil 2 -laying His glory aside did not make Him less Divine, but clearly (to me) demonstrates His awesome love to invade our low estate in order that we might be made to be like Him. What is the significance of the glorification of Jesus to us? (Sermon topic?) (See John 13:31-32; 17:1-10) Might it be important to clarify that the Holy Spirit was resident in Jesus as the God-Man? Reading John 7:39 might incline some to think that the Holy Spirit was not resident in Him - which would deny His Diety, imo. The death of Christ satisfied the wrath of God and provided a means for us to be "made new" - a Holy receptacle for the Holy Spirit to take up residence in us. (Isn't this part of "glorifying God in our body" when we rely upon His indwelling Spirit to will and to work as He pleases?) Let your Light so shine before men that they will see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven . . . comes to mind here. Wasn't the resurrection of Christ the channel for the release of the Holy Spirit? - for which we should all be continually prasing and thanking God for this indesriblabel Gift of Himself!!! Thanks for any insight you might have. (It was a God thing for me to read your post, because these were the exact verses I was pondering this AM on "glorify.") Blessings, mommapbs |
