Yes, prayon I'm asking if my sisters and brothers recognize how the opponent of our faith in Jesus Christ works in their lives? To see opposition as a "sign" of our salvation, echos Christ in Mt 5 that we are blessed when we are persecuted for His sake. Yet do we recognize opposition to our faith as such? I don't all the time. In fact, I find that it is more palatable to be "tolerant" or compromising rather than to stand firm . . . this is where the encouragement of other believers is so important! Also, when I am not sensing those opponents I need to ask myself if perhaps I am walking to close to them? Certain relationships, associations and activities; doubt, self-righteousness and pride all have the potential to become opponents to my faith - and they can be SO discouraging when I fall prey to them! Yes, we fight against a spiritual adversary, but he uses tools of opposition that I believe are important to recognize too, hence my question. So, do you recognize your opponents? |

Greetings dear sister, 2 Timothy 3:12 Infact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in christ Jesus will be persecuted. (NIV) I think there are a lot of individuals that expect that when one is saved all the problems go away.On the contrary,If we are committed to standing faithful we will face opposition. Jesus Said it would happen,so did Peter and Paul. Hebrews 12 tells us how God uses the challenges and discipline of this life to mold and strengthen our character. God oft times will make things or allow things to happen on our lives to draw us closer to him or to bring us back where we've gone astray. I had this discussion with a sister last night. People will walk away from God and all will seem better for awhile but it wont stay that way for long, they will wind up more discouraged and frustrated than before. The devil may not be meessing with them (it may seem that way.) he has no reason to he's already got them. But I will gaurantee that for those who are sold out to God and committed to making a difference there will be opposition, there wll be persecution. But we can be joyful no matter whats going on around us.Our joy and confidence are not dependent on circumstances. God bless you, lionheart |

Greetings lionheart - you have made an important observation: "there are a lot of individuals that expect that when one is saved all the problems go away." Indeed, there is a danger in complacency! This kind of thinking might also be considered an opponent of our faith, for as you have noted, it is contrary to Scripture. Blessings, mommapbs |
