Hi, Praise be to God! Though I respect your decision, and Steve's choice, I still suggest to you to bear in mind that beside Moses no other man, including John the Baptist, was placed in such predicament as to misuse God's Trust and Power... no other than Moses, including King David, had to contend with the constant whining, rebelliousness, and challanges of not only the people of God, but even those close to him! It is easy to prevail when things go your way and when a few people test your mettle, but when you have to carry the world (a nation) on your shoulders and when all you do, in God, is rejected or dismissed... even Job would have had a hard time at passive toleration and optimism! True, Moses did not make it to the promised land--but Moses was Jesus type and only another other person shared his glory with Christ (transfiguration). Both Joseph and Daniel were assistants to others who wheeled the power and had the ultimate determining vote--only Moses possessed all power to which he would only answer directly to God! Moses, in my consideration, had to undergo the deepest soul searching and battle of will than the others... further, it was only moses who placed himself between God and Israel (though John did risk his life for Israel, he did so without the pressure of additional loads as he only carried his responsibility to pronounce the Coming of God)... Joseph had to overcome the treachery of his brothers, and the unrighteousness of the captain's wife, but his burden was light compare to Moses'! God Bless! Angel |

How about mary and apostle paul, apostle paul are the most hardworking apostle of all times, because of him the Christianity possibly reach the place its such as yours and mine, did you consider that. Apostle paul exchange his riches and education to burden, he evangelize the word of God as no one can do. He has a good life and respected and highly educated, but he rejected that enable to served Christ. I am not degrading what moses did to his people, moses died and god buried him, paul was put behind bars because of his testimony of Christ, he was tutured, beheaded which was a very painful death. Paul This first imprisonment came at length to a close, Paul having been acquitted, probably because no witnesses appeared against him. Once more he set out on his missionary labours, probably visiting western and eastern Europe and Asia Minor. During this period of freedom he wrote his First Epistle to Timothy and his Epistle to Titus. The year of his release was signalized by the burning of Rome, which Nero saw fit to attribute to the Christians. A fierce persecution now broke out against the Christians. Paul was siezed, and once more conveyed to Rome a prisoner. During this imprisonment he probably wrote the Second Epistle to Timothy, the last he ever wrote. "There can be little doubt that he appered again at Nero's bar, and this time the charge did not break down. In all history there is not a more startling illustration of the irony of human life than this scene of Paul at the bar of Nero. On the judgment-seat, clad in the imperial purple, sat a man who, in a bad world, had attained the eminence of being the very worst and meanest being in it, a man stained with every crime, a man whose whole being was so steeped in every nameable and unnameable vice, that body and soul of him were, as some one said at the time, nothing but a compound of mud and blood; and in the prisoner's dock stood the best man the world possessed, his hair whitened with labours for the good of men and the glory of God. The trial ended: Paul was condemned, and delivered over to the executioner. He was led out of the city, with a crowd of the lowest rabble at his heels. The fatal spot was reached; he knelt beside the block; the headsman's axe gleamed in the sun and fell; and the head of the apostle of the world rolled down in the dust" (probably A.D. 66), four years before the fall of Jerusalem. |

"Who in the Bible is the greatest example of integrity? Explain why" Hi, J L Pangilinan! I totally agree with you! Mary, Peter, Paul, John, Stephen and many others were put through excruciating pain, physical or emotional or both, for the Way... But the original question asked to designate one candidate... Though many holy people of God were put through the wringer, I still hold that Moses was the one individual granted the greatest amount of power over a vastly superior amount of people and did not misuse his authority! God place Moses as a god to Pharao and to Aaron (inclusive of Israel)... only Moses of all the people in the Bible, outside of our Lord Jesus Christ, placed himself between God's wrath and the people of Israel... to me, it is this relationship that exemplifies the apex of integrity: having all the power in the world, being able to, justly, accuse those who plotted against him, God having his "back," God boiling mad against those who opposed him... still Moses kept his obedience to Yahweh, still Moses kept his devotion to Israel, still Moses interceded for those who betrayed him, still Moses prayed for a people that rejected his leadership! (Reminds you of some one else, doesn't it!) Abraham was a beautiful man, obeying God to the point of offering his only son (the son of Sara, his wife), Isaac, in Faithful obedience... but to me that is not the apex of integrity! Mary, the Apostles, the other disciples, and some benevolent people that placed their lives and livelihood in peril for the Way... they too were excellent examples of fortitute and integrity... but they were not entrusted with as much power nor tested as rigorously and mercilessly as Moses was! David was an excellent soldier for the Lord, but he did not face Moses tormoil--aside from the persecution from king Saul, king David suffered very little and was not placed in the position of facing God's wrath for the sin of Israel... Daniel and Joseph... both gifted, both honorable holy men of God, but their power over Israel was limited, their control of supernatural powers were confined to interpretation of dreams/visions... and even their intercession on behalf of God's people was in a different vein than Moses'--he actually had the intimacy of God and was able to pray and intercede with greater boldness than the rest! Granted, Moses had one set back... something that to us God would readily forgive and has forgiven... but as Christ said to those that much has been entrusted, much more will be asked (Luke 12:48)! So one moment of exasperation caused Moses his entry into the promised land! But it was this same Moses that Jesus saw fit to join Him in His transfiguration! Again, there are many many holy people of God that have exhuded valor, conviction, and integrity... but Moses outshines all in his humble obedience to the Lord! God Bless! Angel |
