Peyton: Further information from you about your condition would enable us to give more specific information to you in answer to your question. What kind of depression do you have -- situational, clinical, chronic? How do you know you have depression? Do you just feel blue a lot of the time or have you been diagnosed by a doctor? If not, you should be. Are you being treated by a doctor for your condition? If medication has been prescribed, are you taking it? Did you quit taking it because of negative side effects or for some other reason? Feel free to give us as much or as little information as you are willing to give. If you don't want to go into detail, that's perfectly understandable. But it would help us give you a better answer if we at least knew whether your depression is clinical and chronic or the kind of temporary depression that a large percentage of the general population has at some time in their lives. Prayer, praise, and Bible reading are always recommended and encouraged. But if there's a chemical imbalance or some physiological (biological) cause of your depression, you need to know. If you're not sure, consulting a doctor is indicated. I wouldn't advise a diabetic to stop taking insulin and just have more faith. I wouldn't advise someone suffering from clinical depression to decline medical treatment and just hope and pray that it will go away. When I discuss depression, believe me, I do know what it's like. Grace to you, Kalos |
