Subject: The privilege of "handling the Word!" |
Bible Note: RE: Ephesians 6:10-20 from these Scriptures, it appears that the common denominator is the SPIRIT - It is the Spirit that empowers (v 10); we are told to take up the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT (v 17) and we are told to pray IN THE SPIRIT (v 18). What does this suggest to the believer - how does or should this affect our daily walk? Note also the Satan uses the Word of God (the temptation of Eve, the temptation od Christ)- but in his hands it is not the SWORD of the SPIRIT! Perhaps we need to examine what our motives are when WE use God's Word? "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;so that the man of God may be equipped for every good work." Are we abusing God's Word when we do not endeavor to use it according to HIS purposes as outlined in this verse? Compare the exhortation in 2 Tim 2:15 "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth." Again, we see the importance of using God's word correctly. This has been "food for thought" to me . . . it seems good to "share it!" Mommapbs |
