1 | Difference of God | Eph 5:1 | malspa | 69630
I have noticed a difference in God's mood between the Old Testament and the New Testament. Is there a reason for this? In the OT, God seems to be like a parent, teaching and scolding. In the NT, God seems to be more passive. Also, is there any relation between the difference and parenting. When children are growing up, we teach them, scold them, and reward them. When they are adults we know that they are grown up, and they must make their own decisions. |

2 | Difference of God | Eph 5:1 | gracefull | 69631
Interesting observation. God still deals with us as children, in that He teaches and disciplines. Hebrews 12:5-8 But the difference is the New Covenant verses the Old. The old was one of law, strict rule and severe punishment (read Deuteronomy 28) which contain the blessings of obedience and the curses of disobedience. In the New Covenant, we are in an intimate relationship through the new birth and I believe the difference is instead of having to be harshly controlled because of hardened hearts we are now expected to follow in love. Ephesians 5:1-2 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. And as it says in Hebrews 8, now His laws are written in our hearts. |
