Hi, fwiaskycap... Grace can be defined, in one sense, as God's goodness shown to those who deserve only His punishment. All real Christians are recipients of God's grace, both in salvation and in everything that is needful for a life of holiness. His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence. (2 Peter 1:3 ESV) From the passage you've cited (Ephesians 4:7), we are again told that grace originates outside of us, not within us, but is a gift. Christ Himself has purchased this grace, obtaining it by His own merits (verse 8). The same amount of grace is not bestowed upon everyone. But sufficient grace is granted to each believer in order for them to live a life as they ought. The grace originates in Christ, purchased by Him, and what He has gained by His own merits.
