1 | Baptism, why not more than one? | Eph 4:4 | Searcher56 | 79101
I believe this is the baptism of the Holy Spirit ... mainly because we see one Lord (Jesus Christ) and one God Father

Then you don't believe water baptism is part of the plan of God? Because if you believe in water baptism, then you have 'two' baptisms! Can you also have two faiths, Spirits, God and Father, Lord? The 'one baptism' of Eph. 4:4 is the same baptism commanded in Acts 2:38 and 22:16. Disciplerami |

3 | Baptism, why not more than one? | Eph 4:4 | Ray | 79124
Hi Disciplerami, Ephesians 4:4 says that there is one baptism. I see no word "water" in Acts 2:38 or 22:16. In Acts 2:38 I see the words "receive the gift of the Holy Spirit". In Acts 22:15, the Holy Spirit is seen because they were to be His witnesses per Acts 1:8. Acts 22:15, "For you will be a witness for Him to all men of what you have seen and heard." You didn't mention Acts 11:16, "And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, 'John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'" You didn't mention Acts 1:5, "for John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." So my question to you is, "Since there is one baptism, why do you choose a physical one (water) over a spiritual one?" Galatians 5:5, "For we through the Spirit,/ by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love." Compare words/contrast Persons, Ephesians 4:4, "one Lord,/ one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all, and in all." Galatians 3:2, "This one thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of law, or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit,/ are you now being perfected by the flesh?" The slashes are mine for comparisons. From the heart, Ray |
