1 | Baptism, why not more than one? | Eph 4:4 | leather48 | 79088
Ephesians 4,4-5 NKJV- There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism. My question is, one body, many members, and one Spirit, many fruits of that Spirit and one Lord, Farther, Son and Holy Spirit. one faith, a fruit of the Holy Spirit, one baptism? The Word of God speaks of water and Spirit. In 1 John 4,8 And these that bear witness on earth, the Spirit, the water, and the blood: and there three agree as one. Why can't there be more in one? 2 | Baptism, why not more than one? | Eph 4:4 | Searcher56 | 79089
There is one body with many members (Rom 12:4-5; 1 Cor 12:12, 20) ... but, we cannot leave the body. The is only one fruit (not fruits) of the Spirit (Gal 5:22) ... fruit is singular. The is only one Lord, that is the Lord Jesus Christ ... and one God and Father (Rom 1:7, Gal 1:3) There is one faith and one baptism. |

Maybe I am not reading you right. Are you saying both baptisms are one, or one counts and the other doesn't? Maybe this would help a lot of people to know. leather48
4 | Baptism, why not more than one? | Eph 4:4 | Robert Nicholson | 79097
Leather48; According to 1 Cor. 12:13 we read "For by one Spirit are we born into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one spirit" When we are born again we are baptised by the Holy Spirit into the church which is his body which is sometimes referred to as the universal (not a Biblical term) church. This is a once and for all work for the believer and without it we are not born again. In Acts 2:41 "Then they that gladly received his word were baptised..." This was water baptism by immersion which every believer underwent after they were saved. I believe that it is symbolic of what has happened within when we trusted Christ and declares our identification with him. ( I know that some do not agree with me on this point) Peace in his Name Robert |

5 | Baptism, why not more than one? | Eph 4:4 | disciplerami | 79120
Greetings, Doesn't say this: "we are baptised by the Holy Spirit" Baptism is water baptism and the Spirit renews in unison (Jn.3:3-5; Titus 3:5) Disciplerami |
