1 | What about man's spiritual condition? | Eph 2:1 | seeking4truth | 102086
The Bible seems to teach that we are born into this world "dead in trespasses and sins". As I understand it (and I may misunderstand it), Adam's fallen spiritual nature is passed on to every human being born since? Is this an accurate understanding? seeking4truth |

2 | What about man's spiritual condition? | Eph 2:1 | GeorJoy | 102091
Yes. But... there is hope... Rom 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. Rom 5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. In Christ George |

3 | Death? | Eph 2:1 | seeking4truth | 102139
In Romans 5:14, is this "death" that reigned spiritual death or physical death or both? seeking4truth |

4 | Death? | Eph 2:1 | GeorJoy | 102179
It is "physical." Prior to Adams sin, there was no death. Spiritual death can best be discribed as the physical death of one who has failed to accept the fact that, through Christs death on the cross, the penalty for the sins of many who believe and repent was paid. God Bless George |

5 | How is Jesus' death substitutionary? | Eph 2:1 | seeking4truth | 102289
So what Paul was saying is that physical death came upon all men because of Adam's sin? If that is the proper understanding, then how does Jesus' death on the cross do anything for us? I.e. I have heard, since I was a kid, that Jesus' death is "substitutionary." But it would seem that if Jesus died in my place, then I wouldn't have to die. Yet, Christians STILL die. So how is His death substitutionary? Thanks. seeking4truth |

6 | How is Jesus' death substitutionary? | Eph 2:1 | GoAngel1231 | 102293
Hey, first of all, Christ died for more than just a spiritual death. He was a sacrifice for us. That means that He died fir us so we cane go to heaven. God does not mean we are immortals to live forever on earth. He meant we have eternal life as in we do not go to Hell but spend eternity in His glory and presence. His death is substitutionary by the fact that we do not have to go to Hell. He descended into hell, then He went to Heaven and is seated at the right of the Father. By the way, God never said that we were going to leave pain free life. On the contrary, He said that we would suffer and be prosecuted for His name's sake. But then He says "Blessed are the prosecuted for the sake of Me for they're the heirs of the kingdom of Heaven. Also God did not mean He died for just Adam's sin. He meant He died for mankind's sin. No one is sinless except for God Himself. It is impossible for a human to be sinless. And you cannot be the most wreched man on earth. You are looking to God. You are just going about it the wrong way. "'Family of Israel, can't I do the same thing with you?' says the Lords. 'You are in my hands like the clay in the potter's hands.'"- Jeremiah 18:6 "You are like clay in the hands of the potter. The potter decides what shape he wants the clay to become, and then he molds and forms the clay into that shape. If he finds a flaw in the bowl he's making- he starts over. God, in His wisdom, has decided whate shape our lives will take. He will mold us until we have become what he has envisioned. did you know that you are just clay? Think about the job of the clay- to the rest in the potter's hands and to hold the shape he forms. If you sense that God is molding your life into one that pleases Him, then do the job of the clay- rest in His hands and trust Him. The clay cannot argue with the potter. The potter's wisdom is greater and he ultimately decides on the shapes that please Him. Trust God; He will lovingly mold you like a lump of clay. He will wirk iut the flaws, and He may even start over, but the result will be pleasing to His eyes."- On the Edge in the Extreme Teen Bible. I want you to think about something, clay cannot form itself and I hope you have never seen any lunp of clay form itself or you might want to report it to the x-files(just joking about that). I do not know what exactly you have gone through and the kind of things you have experienced, but I know God loves you unconditionally and that is why He died for you to be with Him in heaven forever. By the way, if you do not understand the Scripture, that does not mean you are a bad Christian; it just means you are human and you need to ask God to open the eyes of your heart. You want to be like Jesus, well, I have a suggestion, to be like someone, you must know that person so have a personal relationship with Him. Talk to Him like you would talk to one of your friends that you trust, but with even more trust, dependance, and love. God is there for you. Like the song says, "God is in control." Here is a question to ponder on, why did God die for us? He loved and still loves us so much that He gave His life for us to be with Him. I read something off a magnet that I think you might like, "I asked God, one day, 'How much do You love me?' He replied, 'This much,' and He streched out His arms and died." Do you know the song "Here I am to Worship"? In that song it say, "I'll never know how much it cost to see my sin upon that cross." Think about what that truly means. Ask God to open your eyes of your heart. Talk to Him often and bring your cares to Him no matter how small they seem. "Cast your cares upon Him for He cares for you." Do not fear death because you know you are going to be with God forever. You know because you have chose to acknowledge God's love and return it. I pray God will strengthen you, guide you, protect you, comfort you, help you grow in His ways, and open the eyes of your heart. God bless you, seeking4truth. Love in Christ, Go Angel1231. P.S.
