1 | Would God ever accept a 2nd marriage? | Eph 1:7 | kerr6 | 164107
What if you got married too young (21)? And when you did get married you didnt understand marriage was forever, you thought it would never last but it was good enough for now. Then the time came when you just couldnt live like this anymore because of mental abuse and you get divorced. You are alone and then find the perfect potential spouse and you KNOW they are the one because they complete you like you never had been before but never thought they would ever show up in your life. You get married to them and become an even better loving christian with them and you repent every day for your previous marriage that you knew in the beginning wouldnt last but you did it anyway for selfish reasons. Will God ever forgive you and accept your 2nd marriage?
2 | Would God ever accept a 2nd marriage? | Eph 1:7 | taraleigh | 164108
God is a God of love, forgivness, and SECOND chances...why on earth would HE not accept your marriage. If both of you are dedicated Christians then you have 1 up on the rest of the marriages out there. God says, when HE forgives you, it is as far as the east is from the west...so forget it and move on. He does not want you to remain in your guilt and shame of the first marriage. This is a fallen world and we fail HIM DAILY, so your divorce is no different than me getting ugly with someone at BiLo. Sin is sin in God's eyes, and I am sure getting divorced is the not the 'worst' thing you have ever done. Remember that just by being a decendant of Adam and Eve, you are fallen...a sinner...sinning just by being alive...His grace is sufficient! Be blessed Eph 1:7 In Him we have forgiveness according to HIS righces in GRACE! IT is ALL about Gods grace and none about how good or not good you are! |

3 | Would God ever accept a 2nd marriage? | Eph 1:7 | Shythiyl | 166329
Why would He not accept a second marriage? Anyone who thinks He would, Christian or otherwise would be well advised to know what His Word states concerning the matter. He IS a God of love and second chances, but He is also a just God, and he gave us His word which leaves no room for rationalization on this, and many other matters of such importance. Such a topic, is a touchy one. One which is close to the heart of everyone, but a Christian should be bound by His Living Word, not the feelings of their heart. No doubt, many will say it does not pertain, but though I can't currently recall where, I do remember an instance in the OT where many of the Nation Israel had married outside their people, and they were ordered to divorce or leave. One rationalised, and lost his life, if I am not mistaken. I am sure someone can point out the passages to which I refer, and refrain from voicing "opinion" on the matter, by simply presenting what Gods word states. Scripturally, there are 3 escapes from marriage. (1) Spousal death. (2) Spousal unfaithfulness. And (3), An unequally yoked marriage in which the unbeliever leaves the believer. Rationalixing the matter, will fool only the rationalizers. It will not change the Word of God. Nor will it excuse the ignorant believer, which leads to my final coment on the matter. Mat 5:19 "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." |

Hi Shythiyl, Refrain from offering an opinion???? But that is what we DO here! How could this thing be??? Sigh. . . Ezra 10 2 And Shecaniah the son of Jehiel, of the sons of Elam, addressed Ezra: "We have broken faith with our God and have married foreign women from the peoples of the land, but even now there is hope for Israel in spite of this. 3 Therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all these wives and their children, according to the counsel of my lord and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God, and let it be done according to the Law. Is this the passage you were thinking of? Love in Christ, Mark |
