1 | Assurance of salvation | Eph 1:7 | Mathaytes | 219129
After reading the "Left Behind" series for children my son is expressing to me doubts about his salvation. He is now 12 years old. I was with him when he prayed to receive Christ when he was 5 years old. I have some ideas of how to approach this, but I would also appreciate the unbiased ideas of others. What do your suggest? Thanks, |

2 | Assurance of salvation | Eph 1:7 | BradK | 219130
Hello Mathaytes, Welcome to the Forum. That's a tough situation. I haven't read the book (or series), so I'm curious as to what caused him to doubt? My suggestion is to take him to scripture- the Word of God. His faith is grounded upon what the Word says, not a fictional work! Here's a few: Eph 1:7 - "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace" (NASB) Titus 3:5- "He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit" (NASB) Heb 7:25- "Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them." (NASB) Our salvation is based upon the finished work of Christ on the cross! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

3 | Assurance of salvation | Eph 1:7 | justme | 219146
BradK (:-) These books are so much fiction that it's a wonder more pastors have not taken a stand against this mix mosh of fiction and truth. I have heard some say they surrendered to Christ after reading these books, but do they really know what was fiction and what was truth? I am a rather strict old bird on not missleading people. These books came out one at a time, and were rather costly, but profit was the reason for making them. I was raised on the KJV up until I was 20 or so, and it really was not that hard bathen. We have so much more accurate Bibles now and still we continue to feed our youn people books like the "Left Behind" books. They should be :Left Behind" in the trash can is my rather bold opinion. Blessings to you Brad. justme |
