1 | What do we have? | Gal 6:1 | Ray | 94726
Recent discussions here on the forum have led me to compare Galatians 6:1 with 1 Corinthians 7:40. Could I interest anyone in comparing those verses and giving us your thoughts? From the heart, Ray |

2 | What do we have? | Gal 6:1 | fran1946 | 94790
1 Corn. 7:40. In this chapter, Paul is talking to the married and the unmarried. Gal. 6:1 Paul is speaking of a christian that is over taken in a fault. A fault is a mistake made, but if that mistake continues to be made, it becomes sin, and we that are strong are to bear the infirmities of the week, or consider ourselve that we might end up in the same predicterment. 1 Corn. 7:40 dose not suggest doubt in any way. the phrase is better translated " I consider also that I have the spirit of God.

Hi Fran1946, Thank you for responding. I'm sorry that I have not answered you very quickly. I have been busy with a couple minor surgeries, and have not spent very much time at the computer. I agree with you that 1 Cor 7:40 does not suggest doubt in any way. You wrote that "The phrase is better translated "I consider also that I have the spirit of God." As a person interested in capitalization and pronouns of Deity, I would like to consider with you not only the translation but also the interpretation that you have made by putting "spirit" in the lower case. I agree with the lower case "spirit" and I think of think of these Scriptures in that regard. Mark 3:30 "He has an unclean spirit." **Here they were saying that Jesus had an unclean spirit and were blaspheming the Holy Spirit by essentially saying that He was not holy. Luke 9:55, "But He turned and rebuked them, [and said, "You do not know what kind of spirit you are of;..." **We should test ourselves also. 1 John 4:1, "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world." Revelation 22:6, "And he said to me, "These words are faithful and true"; and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets,..." So we are to test the spirits to see if they are from God. 1 John 4:2, "By this you know the *spirit of God; every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God." **I personally confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh and I compare 1 John 4:3 with John 10:30 and tell you that He and the Father are one. I consider also that I have the spirit of God. 1 John 3:24, "And the one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And we know by this that He abides in us, by the *spirit who [*which] He has given us. I believe that the Scriptures talk of the spirit and the Spirit of God. We can know that Christ is in us the hope of glory. 1 Corinthians 3:11-16, "For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ....16 Do you not KNOW that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" From the heart, Ray |
