Between the hearing of faith (Galatians 3:5)and those who are of faith (Galatians 3:7) what is there?

Scripture ... Rom 10:15-13, 16-7; Gal 3:5 ... Galatians 3:5 So then, does He who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? 6 Even so Abraham BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS. 7 Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham. Romans 10:13 for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED." 14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? 15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!" 16 However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, "LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT?" 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. Ray, greetings. The answer is believing, as Abraham did (Gal 3:6) and the process of being saved ... having someone sent to preach, so they can hear, then believe, then call, so they are saved (Rom 10:15-13). But, not everyone who hears will believe (Rom 10:16). Searcher |

Hi Searcher, Believing is important; but it isn't the answer that I was hoping to hear. But you are correct that it is important to believe in Him. John 3:16, "...that whoever believes in (Him) should not perish, but have everlasting life." Romans 4:5, "But to the one who does not work, but believes in (Him) who justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned as righteousness, just as David also speaks of the blessing upon the man to whom God reckons righteousness apart from works:..." John 6:29, "Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in (Him) whom He has sent." Romans 10:8, "But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart"--that is, the word of FAITH which we are preaching, that [Or, because] if you confess with your mouth Jesus as (Lord), and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved." Romans 10:14, "How then shall they call upon Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in (Him) whom they have not heard?..." John 15:16, "You did not choose Me, but (I) chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask of the Father in My name, He may give to you. This I command you, that you love one another. If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I/ chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you." Galatians 3:28,29, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to (Christ), then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise." It's time to got to the beach with my wife, but I'll write later about what I see in Galatians 3:6. I'll appreciate any more comments from you. From the heart, Ray |

4 | From faith to faith | Gal 3:6 | Searcher56 | 63754
Ray, I also see Abraham taking action. He heard from God to go, that he would have a son, to sacrifice his son. He had to believe ... faith comes to play. Recount Hebrews 11. Searcher

Hi Searcher, Thanks for your work and thoughts here. I agree with you on what you have said. You have said, "He had to believe...faith comes to play." That is exactly right, for after Galatians 3:6 says that Abraham believed God, the next 5 out of 6 verses has the word FAITH in them. Verses 7-12 have the word faith, except for verse 10 which talks of the works of the Law. But I want to move from the application of the passage for us, to a study of God and to what Galatians 3:6 tells us about God. From the "faith" in verse 5 to the "faith" in verse 7, I see God, and God alone. Even our faith comes from God, who is Spirit. We cannot claim the credit for our faith. Our faith, just as Abraham's faith, comes from the Spirit. Galatians 3:7, Therefore, know "that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham." Galatians 3:5, "Does He then, who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? [Literally, Just as] Abraham BELIEVED (GOD), AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS." Who is this One in whom we believe? Galatians 3:3 tells us that we began our faith with the Spirit. Who is this Spirit? Who is this Man, Jesus Christ? They are the triune God that we serve. Galatians 2:20 says, "...and it is no longer I who live, but Christ/ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered (Himself) up for me." The human body of Christ does not live in me. I know Him now as Spirit. My faith began when I knew Him as God, as Spirit, as the Son, and He is the Lord of my life. I would like anyone interested to compare Galatians 3:6 with Romans 1:17. The parentheses and slashes are mine for comparison. Gal 3:6, "Even so [Lit. Just as] Abraham believed (God), and it was reckoned to him as rihteousness." Romans 1:16,17, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of (God) is revealed from FAITH TO FAITH; as it is written, "But the righteous man shall live by faith."" Romans 1:17 is why I see only the righteousness of God in the believing Abraham in Galatians 3:6, between faith and faith. Galatians 5:5, "For we through the Spirit/, by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor circumcision means anything, but faith working through love. You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion did not come from (Him) who calls you." Galatians 5:24, "Now those who belong to Christ (Jesus) have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit." So, Searcher, we like Abraham will "take action" and I would add that our righteousness is in the righteousness of God.
