The context of Paul's letter to the Galatians Church was to address a "perversion" of the Gospel of Grace, (Gal. 1:6-9). There were some in the church that was insisting on circumcision, and observance of the "law" in "addition" to Christ as a prerequisite for salvation. (See Gal. 2:11-16). There is only ONE Gospel,(Ephesians 4:4-7). The mystery of the Gospel spoken of by Paul is defined in Ephesians 3:1-13. It is also "described" in Ephesians 2:11-22. In a nutshell, the answer to your initial question, i.e. "is Paul confronting a different gospel than the one to Abraham", NO, they are one and the same Good News! I am forever grateful to be a partaker of this Gospel of grace. I pray this will help in some way. |
