Greetings Jcsav! Thanks for the response my friend! There is an old saying about assumptions! :-) I have been speaking in tongues for about 26 years now. I was first called to the ministry while attending the Cleveland Assemby Church of Go. I have worshipped in, and almost joined, the Assembilies of God. So, I don't ask the question to challenge the legitimacy of tongues as a gift. However, I am unware of any Scriptural basis for distinguishing between a sign of tongues and a gift of tongues. So, I was curious as to the Biblical support for your claim. If you would care to address it, I would appreciate it. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim, if you received the Holy Ghost. Then you must have quenched it. Because it should be stirring your soul just hearing us speak. No disrespect intended. But, lests say I'll wrong. You mean to tell me you can not tell the difference in the first time you spoke (sign) and the gift (if you have it). Did you have control over the Spirit as Paul said to the Church at Corintians when you was first filled?

"IT" is the title of a novel by Stephen King. "MISTAKE TO USE 'IT' WITH REFERENCE TO THE HOLY SPIRIT" "The Holy Spirit must never be considered merely as a blessing, a feeling, or an influence. How far short of the full truth it is to refer to Him as 'It'" ("The Spirit Himself", by Ralph M. Riggs, Springfield, Missouri: Gospel Publishing House, Copyright 1949, 1977). |

"It" as in the words that he hear when we speak. You are correct, we should say "He" refurring to the Holy Spirit/Ghost. If I did so, I was wrong. Remember that we are the ones who knows him by his Name. So how can he be a mere blessing, feeling or influence. And because I say I have the Holy Ghost do not mean I will not make a mistake. But you can not bring Truth into question because of my grammar. I misspell words too.
