1 | Tongues a necessary sign of salvation? | 2 Cor 13:14 | jcsav | 112851
Do you understand the difference between the "Gift of Tongues" and the "Sign." The rules that Paul stated in 1Cor. do not apply to the "Sign".The Corintians did not volate what God had said in the use of tongues because until Paul instructed them, there was none. As for as the signs being a temporal promise. If so, God never told us. Because these signs (all of them) still follow the Church.

3 | Gift or Sign? | 2 Cor 13:14 | jcsav | 112876
Why are you so interested in the use of tongues? I am sure you don't have the problem the Corinthians had.And those of us who speak, Knows the distinction. |

4 | Gift or Sign? | 2 Cor 13:14 | Morant61 | 112883
Greetings Jcsav! Thanks for the response my friend! There is an old saying about assumptions! :-) I have been speaking in tongues for about 26 years now. I was first called to the ministry while attending the Cleveland Assemby Church of Go. I have worshipped in, and almost joined, the Assembilies of God. So, I don't ask the question to challenge the legitimacy of tongues as a gift. However, I am unware of any Scriptural basis for distinguishing between a sign of tongues and a gift of tongues. So, I was curious as to the Biblical support for your claim. If you would care to address it, I would appreciate it. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Greetings Searcher56! My friend, I am aware that we do not view spiritual gifts in the same manner. I believe I have posted on this topic before, but I view tongues as one of many spiritual gifts given by the Holy Spirit. I believe, according to 1 Corinthians, that tongues can be either a human language or an angelic language, unknown by the speaker. So, I could not answer what 'tongue' I speak! :-) I further believe that all the spiritual gifts are still for today. If I remember correctly, you hold a different position. But, that's okay - I still love you my friend! :-) p.s. - To all my friends on the forum, keep me in prayer this week. I may have an opportunity to begin pastoring again, if it is God's will. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

7 | Tim, what tongue(s) do you speak in? | 2 Cor 13:14 | Searcher56 | 112947
Tim ... First, we are in prayer for you and those who will make a decision if they should extend a call to you. What language do the angels speak? Whenever they spoke to man, was it in their native tongue? When do you think each of the gifts in 1 Cor 13:8-9 will cease or be stilled? |
