Dear Biblicalman, Most of the time you make good sense; from which I continue to benefit. However, calling obesity a sin is a fairly egregious error in logic. You have confused the effect with the cause. For example, Proverbs 24:33-34 tells us that the slothful man comes to poverty. The sin of sloth may result in the visible manifestation of poverty. Nevertheless, we all understand that poverty has many other causes. We would not assert that all poor people are lazy! Gluttony may cause obesity. Obesity is one of several possible manifestations of gluttony. The sin is gluttony and the acts that arise from gluttonous behavior, not obesity. I commend your efforts "to direct men's thoughts aright." That is the gist of 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Consequently, I know that you will receive this, my own effort, in kind (Proverbs 27:5-6). In Him, Doc |

Hi Doc Thank you for your 'correction'. My statement that obesity from non-medicsl causes was a sin was a little careless, seeing the end process in terms of what caused it, but as you will note below I was in process of correcting it when you wrote. It is as you rightly say sin that results in obesity. Although in my view to continue in obesity and not to be doing something about it is sin although possibly not the worst of sins. Anything that comes short of the glory of God is sin Thank you for taking the trouble to write. Best wishes |
