Hi, Antoinette... A child who did not come to term was considered defective or, at least, undesirable. Not in the sense of unwanted, but as something that was not the preferred condition. Of course, it could also refer to an aborted child as the above reference (cf Job 3:16). Children and livestock coming to full term was always considered a blessing from God.
