Is there any biblical example of women addressing the church / congregation with the power of the Holy Ghost or as directed by God. | ||||||

I have often wondered about this myself. I'm a woman, and I can tell you that I would be highly uncomfortable with a female pastor. I don't even know why -- there are several key women in the old testament. Deborah was even a judge of Israel, which would I guess be the equivalent of a female president (gasp!). Maybe I'm wrong. I do believe that God is the head of man, as man is the head of woman. I don't believe that means man and woman are unequal but I think that God designed women to be a helpmeet to their husbands, and even brothers and fathers. Perhaps God just convicts different people differently. For me, I could never be comfortable being in a position of leadership over men, or speaking (if you are talking about preaching-speaking). But hey, maybe I'm old-fashioned for a young gal.... As far as women speaking... there were prophetesses, Deborah the judge, Esther the queen who saved the Jews, and many many notable women mentioned in the Bible, however I have never read of a women in a pastoral sort of leadership role. I don't know. That's one I'll be asking the Father when I get home... | ||||||
