Jesus never forced. Jesus only preached to those who came to him to hear His word. There are no accounts of Him preaching to anyone who did not want to receive the message. He spoke and crowds gathered. Matthew 7:6,12,15 "Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces. 12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. 15"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. Ecclesiastes 9:17 The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools. Mark 4 14The farmer sows the word. 15Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. 16Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. 17But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 18Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; 19but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. 20Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop--thirty, sixty or even a hundred times what was sown." I hope this helps. |

Let's not forget that while we are preserving our holy meat and holding back our pearls, we are also supposed to go into all the world and make disciples of all men. You are absolutely right in saying that we should shake the dust off our sandals if they won't hear us, but we have a duty to try. Ezekiel 3:17-19 "Son of man (by context speaking to Ezekiel here), I have appointed you a watchman to the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from My mouth, warn them from Me. When I say to the wicked, 'You will surely die,' and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. Yet if you have warned the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered yourself." Ancient |
