Dear Beloved in Christ. I went to ask these questions which worries me alot. They are:when does the Holy Spirit Baptized someone or a christain. 2.Speaking in tongues, is it a gift or constant evidence. 3.When someone does not speak in tongues does it mean that the person is not having the Holy Spirit. I my self I speak in tongues but the impression people are making that I do not understand.I think is a gift and Holy Spirit baptized someone at the time he/she accept Jesus as His/her personal saviour. |

Greetings MrOteng, Robin is right. Speaking in tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit available to everyone. It is the evidence of the Holy Spirits indwelling (see Acts 2,8,9,10, and 19). There are 5 conditions for receiving the Holy Spirit. 1) Must be saved (John 14:17) 2) Must be obedient. A Christian in known sin can not receive, his heart will condemn him resulting in no faith (Acts 5:32) 3) Must have faith. A Christian must be fully persuaded that this experience is in him. (Gal 3:2) 4) Must ask in faith (Mark 11:24; Luke 11:13) 5) Must yield to the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4) Since the gift of tongues is available to everyone the reasons that a Christian would not area lack of: 1) obedience to God in their life 2) Faith 3) Yeilding when the Holy Spirit comes on them such as your mouth is closed, you are speaking in English (can't speak in 2 languages at the same time). Hope this helps. prayon |
