All I know is God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. At my church we still speak in tongues and I believe you have to have an outpouring of the spirit before speaking in tongues. In Acts it says the Holy Spirit fell and everyone heard the message in their own language(sorry for the paraphrase). So, if that happened back then, I believe it happens now b/c this is today and God is the same. I hope I have not confused anyone. This is just my opinion.

While Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever(Heb 13:8) it doesn't mean we are and what happens to us at salvation and in our life. Since the salvation experiences are not the same in Acts (only twice do the new believers speak in tongues), except they are saved, we cannot say anything else. Note the tongues that many churches speak today violate what the Bible says ... not in a known language of at least one hearer and more than one speaks and there is no interpetation -- the church is copying Satan. |

I know that in the last days there will be an outpouring of the spirit. We will speak in a new tongue. If someone speaks in tongues(when the spirit gives utterance with groanings we do not understand-paraphrase, sorry) and there is not an interpretation then it is "like a clanging symbol". If there is no interpretation then I would walk out b/c I have been told Satan comes to church too, but he can not quote scripture. I go along with I Corinthians 12- he gives some the gift of interepretation, just the (young or old- I can't remember) shall dream dreams.

You said, "We will speak in a new tongue", which I think you are refering to Mark 16:17. Read my post 92754 and others there. Why only take one of the signs and not the rest? You said, "when the spirit gives utterance with groanings we do not understand" ... which I think you misundersand Romans 8:26 (see post 148263). |
