1 | Impact of Music in Spiritual Warfare? | Rom 8:6 | Morant61 | 166883 | ||
Greetings CDBJ! Here is one reference that deals with a typical church service in the first century. 1 Cor. 14:26 - "What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church." The indication would seem to be that there was a significant amount of time given to music. Eph. 5:19-20 also says, "Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. " No set percentage is given in either of these passages though! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Hi Tim, Good call; I remembered the verse in Eph. but the one in I Cor.14 completely slipped my mind. I guess I'm getting difficult in my old age. I truly love the old hymns but most of this new stuff that they are pushing with so few words and so many verses doesn't seem to even come close to the good old favorites in my estimation. Example, “The old Rugged Cross”, “A mighty Fortress”, “Amazing Grace”, etc. CDBJ |
