kimmy: There is really is a mistranslation when we say Holy Ghost. Ther correct translation is Holy Spirit. The only time the the word Ghost is used is when Jesus entered the room where Thomas and the rest were hiding, after the resurrection and Jesus suddenly appeared, the word Ghost is used there, as if to say eek a Ghost. To answer your question, you receive the Holy Spirit from the second Jesus becomes your Lord. The Holy Spirit indwells every true believer. The gifts He gives are just exactly that, gifts. You can't ask for a gift because then it is not a gift! There are those who would disagree with me and say speaking in tongues is proof you have the Holy Spirit. However, taken in context speaking in tongues, is a gift and not all of us have that. I personally believe it is a gift given far less than some think. I have never ever heard someone say they had the gift of helps, or giving. Why not? I think it has to do with forcing people to speak in odd words they do not understand to prove their salvation. agape. justme |

You said"There is really is a mistranslation when we say Holy Ghost. Ther correct translation is Holy Spirit. The only time the the word Ghost is used is when Jesus entered the room where Thomas and the rest were hiding, after the resurrection and Jesus suddenly appeared, the word Ghost is used there, as if to say eek a Ghost." If we use King James there are 88 verses in the new testament (matt. jude) containing word "Holy Ghost" I dont think it a mistranslation. just a clarification... God bless, Johnny |

Johnny: I mean no disrespect to you in anyway, however, the King James Version is not perfrect. No version is perfect, but just because the KingJames translators used the 1558 version as a sourse, does not make the word Ghost correct. That is one reason the New American Standard Bible is so much more accurate. Every place you see Ghost in the KJV the NASB uses the correct translation Spitit. I hope you will not take my word for this but ask a greek schollar if this is not correct. Again I say this with deep respect and a desire to establish what the correct word is. agape, justme |
