Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. [KJV] That is us. As believers, we are justified by our faith in Christ. Rom. 5:1 through Rom. 5:2 (NKJV) 1Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. What does it mean to be justified? "Just as if I never sinned" or "Just as if sin never was." That is our position through faith. Romans 7:5 is the way we WERE. Our lives were ruled by our passions, our appetites. Sin's power WAS over our flesh. Here is a key to our life IN CHRIST. BUT NOW. . . 7:6But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter. We are DELIVERED from that which held us in slavery. Not that the law was evil. No no no. The law was the picture of righteousness. A thing we could not posess because it is impossible for man to follow all the law. It condemns us everytime we failed to follow any part of it. It showed us what sin was. BUT NOW . . . Rom. 3:21 through Rom. 3:26 (NASB) 21But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Rom. 6:22 through Rom. 6:23 (NASB) 22But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. 23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom. 7:6 (NASB) 6But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter. Rom. 11:30 through Rom. 11:32 (NASB) 30For just as you once were disobedient to God, but now have been shown mercy because of their disobedience, 31so these also now have been disobedient, that because of the mercy shown to you they also may now be shown mercy. 32For God has shut up all in disobedience so that He may show mercy to all. Gal. 3:25 through Gal. 3:29 (NASB) 25But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. 26For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise. I don't know about you, I wanna live BUT NOW. But now I'm dead to sin. But now I'm crucified with Christ. But now I'm raised with Him in newness of Life. But now not I who lives but Christ in me. BUT NOW! That is the awareness I want in my life. I want righteousness consciousness not sin consciousness. Heb. 10:1 through Heb. 10:4 (NASB) 1For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very form of things, £can never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually year by year, make perfect those who draw near. 2Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had consciousness of sins? 3But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins year by year. 4For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Heb. 10:19 through Heb. 10:22 (NASB) 19Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. You see I've been made a saint. I am not a sinner saved by grace. I WAS a sinner but now I am a new creation. Number 23:19 |

Thanks Asis for the great affirming Scriptures!Oh that we would truly believe them! Then we would indeed be in the "but now" reality of our Christian life! The only thing I would question is your last statement - yes, we are a new creation in Christ, but we are not without sin. We may be "saints," but until our redemption is complete, we still possess our sin nature and the capacity to sin; if this wasn't so, Paul would not have written so many admonissions in his letters to believers to avoid sin! Thanks again for the dialog! Blessings, mommapbs |

As a believer in Christ we only sin when we choose to. James show us the way sin starts is with a thought. The thought is a temptation and 1 Cor. 10:13 (NASB) 13No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. This is a promise of God that through experience has become a reality in my life. I choose God when temptation comes. He has said that any temptation that comes I can handle. Choose God. Paul writes all his letters to the "saints." If his letters are written to me along with the Galatians and the Corinthians I must be one of the saints (beleivers) he is writing to. I have been redeemed. Eph. 1:7 through Eph. 1:10 (NASB) 7In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace 8which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight 9He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him 10with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. REDEMPTION: The purchase back of something that had been lost, by the payment of a ransom. The Greek word so rendered is apolutrosis, a word occurring nine times in Scripture, and always with the idea of a ransom or price paid, i.e., redemption by a lutron (see Matt. 20:28; Mark 10:45). There are instances in the LXX. Version of the Old Testament of the use of lutron in man’s relation to man (Lev. 19:20; 25:51; Ex. 21:30; Num. 35:31, 32; Isa. 45:13; Prov. 6:35), and in the same sense of man’s relation to God (Num. 3:49; 18:15). There are many passages in the New Testament which represent Christ’s sufferings under the idea of a ransom or price, and the result thereby secured is a purchase or redemption (Compare Acts 20:28; 1 Cor. 6:19, 20; Gal. 3:13; 4:4, 5; Eph. 1:7; Col. 1:14; 1 Tim. 2:5, 6; Titus 2:14; Heb. 9:12; 1 Pet. 1:18, 19; Rev. 5:9). The idea running through all these texts, however various their reference, is that of payment made for our redemption. The debt against us is not viewed as simply canceled, but is fully paid. Christ’s blood or life, which he surrendered for them, is the “ransom” by which the deliverance of his people from the servitude of sin and from its penal consequences is secured. It is the plain doctrine of Scripture that “Christ saves us neither by the mere exercise of power, nor by his doctrine, nor by his example, nor by the moral influence which he exerted, nor by any subjective influence on his people, whether natural or mystical, but as a satisfaction to divine justice, as an expiation for sin, and as a ransom from the curse and authority of the law, thus reconciling us to God by making it consistent with his perfection to exercise mercy toward sinners” (Hodge’s Systematic Theology). Understand that we are not complete until we are in our resurrected bodies. But until then we live in Christ. Oh oh here comes some of that bizarre and wierd stuff . . . In Him I'm Him In Him. |

Thanks for the clarification! The truths of God and WHO we are IN CHRIST are so important to know AND believe . . . in fact, they are SO important to be reminded of and reviewed. As you noted, sin starts with the thought process. "As a man thinketh, so is the man." Proverbs 23:7 Blessings, mommapbs |
