2 | Flesh serving...? | Rom 7:25 | rzacc | 189929 | ||
Howdy- the 'flesh', meaning the old man, the old nature, is still with us - hanging on to our bodies... It is the battle we face as believers daily with sin, with which we will struggle until we get rid of this body (8:23). Paul, in his flesh- his old man, still fought with sin, as we do. But the great thing is that 'with my mind, I serve the law of God!'. He says that 'the willing is present in my', not to sin, but it's "the doing" that I have problems with! I can relate to that, can't you?? rz ps: The Amplified puts the words HE WILL into the text, and they are not present, nor are they implied. That verse is NOT the answer to the question from the previous verse, as the Ampl. implies, and to which many paraphrases ellude. I believe either 1. the question is rhetorical, and expresses the frustrating conclusion to the battle he has been struggling with, (after explaining the positional reality in Chapter 6-7), or 2. He sees The answer in his presentation of Chapter 8. I am leaning toward the first explanation, but the jury is still out. Your thoughts??? Coram Deo, ronz "Are you all alone?" asked the man as I rode in the dark past his cabin in the snow. "Are you all alone?" asked the stars. "Are you all alone?" echoed the hills. If a man is all alone in this miraculous world, then a neighbor is no help. |
