1 | Eccl. 9:2-10 | Rom 6:23 | nimrod2 | 67894
Regarding the afterlife, why does it appears that Eccl. 9:2-10 denies anything after death? This scripture seems in direct conflict with the message of eternity for Christians whose names appear in the Book of Life. Can anyone help me to correctly discern what seems to be a contradiction? |

2 | Eccl. 9:2-10 | Rom 6:23 | Makarios | 67895
Greetings Nimrod2, "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." We cannot escape death, since "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.." (Romans 3:23) In Ecclesiastes, Solomon is saying that regardless of whatever happens in life, all humankind face one certain fate- death. Solomon is not saying that we will not have eternal life, even though he wrote this book without having the hope that we now share by having faith in Jesus Christ. Solomon is saying that we must make the most of our time here while we are alive! We must enjoy it and take hold of what is most important, since life is so 'fleeting'! "Seek the LORD while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near." (Isaiah 55:6) Blessings to you, Makarios |
