hi i just need some help in clarifying some thing for my cousin. she can't get past the fact that the apostle Paul has watered down the gosple (the teachings of Jesus) just to make salvation easy. she thinks that salvation is obtained by faith in Jesus and also by obeying the laws. i know Paul says salvation comes by faith only, in James it says salvation comes by faith and by obeying the law. can any one give me something concrete so i can explain it to my cousin so she does not live a life of trying to fulfill every law which i know you can never do. thanks | ||||||

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Here is the verses by Paul.... The problem is that people stop after these verses. Paul agrees with James in the very next verse. Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. I am saved by grace though faith, but true faith will produce works. Which is what James is saying when he says, "Faith with out works is dead." For example: I go to work every week with the faith that my employer is going to give me a check at the end of the pay period. If I did not have true faith, I would not go to work, but since I do believe they are going to give me a check at the end of the pay period, I show up for work every day. I hope this helps you, and God bless you. Scott |
