1 | Can a murderer go to heaven? | Rom 3:23 | BradK | 188542
Hello us8899, The question might be better phrased: Can anyone go the heaven on their own merits or deeds? It is only by grace through faith that anyone is saved! (Eph. 2:8-9) No. Romans 3:23 states,"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Then, Romans 10:9 tells us, "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;" Rom. 10:13 says, "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED." To the Galatians (and believers), Paul writes: "nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified." I trust this will help to answer your question, BradK |

3 | Can a murderer go to heaven? | Rom 3:23 | DocTrinsograce | 188748
Dear US8899, The law has no power to save. All it can do is convict. It shows us what we deserve. When Paul uses this expression, he means simply that no one will be saved by trying to be obedient to the law. Salvation is a matter of grace. Grace is never something that is deserved or earned. If people deserve a thing, then, by definition, it is no longer grace. In Him, Doc |
