2 | should you persevere instead of judge | Rom 2:7 | EdB | 101717
Perseverance is a word in this verse that is what perseverance has to do with it. Perseverance means to keep on keeping on, to push through, to be steadfast. This verse says we need to keep doing good. I like the NLT take on this verse Romans 2:7 He will give eternal life to those who persist in doing what is good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers. As far as I see it has nothing to do with judging unless the judging is done unrighteously. EdB |

4 | Is the NIV study Bible correct??? | Rom 2:7 | srbaegon | 121904
Hello Xenoid, The idea of perfection here is not flawlessness but being complete. Consider the parable of the sower: Luke 8:15 (ESV) As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience. Perseverance and endurance are characteristics of the good soil (i.e. the true believer). They will strive on to perfection (completion). Steve |
