I remember having that title being clarified for me by a speaker on one of the radio ministries I listen to. He said that the word saint has it's root in the word sanctification. I understand that to be the process every believer enters to be "set apart; consecrated; made holy for God. Smith's Bible Dictionary states that the first disciples were known as saints (Gr.Nagios, a holy one). I regularly greet the members of my local church body with the greeting "Praise the Lord Saints". I believe it encourages us to remember our new identity in Christ and keeps us on our P's and Q's in terms of our response to others. | ||||||
