In the new testament, God is refered to as "God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ" on many occasions. How should this affect our relationship (or view) of God as "Father" ?
2 | God as "God" or "Father"? | Rom 15:6 | EdB | 105352
Yes Jesus calls God Father but as we see in these two verses God is also our Father, as we are adopted children of His. As I understand the Greek the word Abba would equate to our word daddy. So not only can we call God Father we are also invited to call Him Daddy. To me that invites a very close and loving relationship. Romans 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." Galatians 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!" EdB |
