1 | Government? Ministers for Christ? | Rom 13:1 | humility | 215679
I am not all against government authorities, I live them with all my heart! but I would like someone enlighten me a little more on this passage. I need someone to explain to me, if this scripture verse is true, why is there so much police brutality and corruption in the government? Is this scrpture verse saying that these people suppose to be "Christians" or that it is God's will that they be there?

Hello humility, I believe you're referencing Rom. 13:1- "Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God". (NASB) All scripture is true (2 Tim. 3:16). However, police brutality and government corruption cannot be explained directly from this section of scripture. This is a result of the fall of man. Rom. 3:23 tells us, "...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," (NASB) Those who "exist and are established by God" does not require that they are Christian. God is the ultimate and true authority! I hope this helps, BradK |
