Shalom y'all, This question is prompted by another's post about tithing non-cash items (and an extremely generous gift, I might add). I had this question actually prior to her posting though. I'm getting ready to bless my congregation with a needed item, and I'm wondering how everyone reconciles tithing - cash or non-cash - with claiming these on tax returns? The deductions obviously are not biblical - so does claiming them detract from the gift or not? I've always thought that if you give something you just give it and that's the end of it. I've never done anything like this before so I'm just wondering. By what or who's lead are we following in doing this (deducting that is)? Cheri |

Peace Cheri, I believe that this is a matter of conscience. After you consider it, and make a decision, then if you have no doubts about it, you made the correct decision for you. Just my two cents. halroy |
