2 | ROMANS 10:6-7 MEANING? | Rom 10:6 | Ray | 132060 | ||
Hi RICKSTER, I compare Romans10:6 with Romans 11:33. Romans teaches (10:3) that we should not seek to establish our own righteousness but to subject ourselves to the righteousness of God. For God has shup up all in disobedience that He might show mercy to all (11:11). Christ is the goal, outcome, the end that we seek (10:4). In whom is found the wisdom and knowledge of God (11:33). The word of God is near you, in your mouth and in your heart--that is, the word of faith which we are preaching. (10:8). In the word we find the mind of God. (11:34). So Romans 10:6,7 to my mind is saying to us not to think more highly of ourselves than we ought to think. It is not I who will ascend into heaven and tell God to come down from heaven. It is not I who will bring Christ up from the dead. However, I believe in (Him) and I will not be disappointed. (Romans 9:33) I believe and confess Jesus as (Lord), and believe that God raised Him from the dead, (10:9) resulting in salvation. Because Jesus was resurrected, I can know that I too, may live. Deuteronomy 31:3 says, "It is the Lord your God who will cross [the Jordan and into the promised land] ahead of you;..." In the sense that Joshua was the one who crossed the Jordan ahead of the Jews, Jesus as the God/Man is the One who crosses ahead of the believers, just as the (Lord) has spoken. (Deut 31:3) The parentheses are mine for comparisons. I also compare Romans 10:6,7 with 1 Corinthinans 15:17,18. 1 Corinthians 15:17, "and if Christ/ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished." 19 If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied. 20 But now (Christ) has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep." From the heart, Ray |
