MAC702 In fact we do hold to much of it. Many of our laws are based on Old Testament law, particularly our liability and social laws. Some laws pertained only to Jews in that God used some to separate the Children of Israel from the rest of the world. The Old Testament law on dealing with disease was in fact what stopped the plague in Europe. A man started applying those rules of sanitation for treating victims and disposing of the dead. There is a memorial stating this in the city Prague. The Old Testament had ways to treat "leprosy" in a house and today we are finding very similar methods to be the only effective way of dealing with 'mold' in houses. Short of the laws that require temple worship or Aaronic/Levitical priesthood all fulfilled in Christ yes I think the world would be a far better place if we kept them. That is not saying we should ignore the advances made in medicine, technology, and society by discarding those advances. Yes with these thoughts and limitations in mind I think we should view the Law as the “standard” by which we should mold our judicial, societal, ethical, and behavioral standards. EdB |
