1 | What about the sabbath day? | Rom 10:4 | jilliebbean | 112599
God made it clear that the sabbath day was for rest. What has happend to that law? Most places of business still operate seven days a week..christians and all.
2 | What about the sabbath day? | Rom 10:4 | MAC702 | 112600
“Christ is the end of the Law, so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness.” (Sabbath keeping was a part of that Law. God used Christ to bring that Law to its end. Our having a righteous standing with God depends on faith in Christ, not on keeping a weekly sabbath.) If the Law was in effect, ALL of it would still be in effect. (Also Galatians 4:9-11; Ephesians 2:13-16)
3 | What about the sabbath day? | Rom 10:4 | EdB | 112604
MAC702 Actually Jesus isn't the end of the Law. He is the end of the Law for "righteous", however the law is still in exists. We won't find rigtheousness in it but we we will find God's standard for our lives in it. The reason we don't keep the Sabbath is Jesus was Shiloh the rest giver, He is Lord of the Sabbath, Jesus is the fulfillment of the Sabbath. We find our rest in Him not the day. As for worshipping God we are to do that in Spirit and in Truth also 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' continually in prayer. EdB |

4 | Where do you draw a line? | Rom 10:4 | MAC702 | 113366
So do you advocate following all provisions of the Law that are not expressly overruled in the NT? This would include how to cure "leprosy," etc.
5 | Where do you draw a line? | Rom 10:4 | EdB | 113368
MAC702 In fact we do hold to much of it. Many of our laws are based on Old Testament law, particularly our liability and social laws. Some laws pertained only to Jews in that God used some to separate the Children of Israel from the rest of the world. The Old Testament law on dealing with disease was in fact what stopped the plague in Europe. A man started applying those rules of sanitation for treating victims and disposing of the dead. There is a memorial stating this in the city Prague. The Old Testament had ways to treat "leprosy" in a house and today we are finding very similar methods to be the only effective way of dealing with 'mold' in houses. Short of the laws that require temple worship or Aaronic/Levitical priesthood all fulfilled in Christ yes I think the world would be a far better place if we kept them. That is not saying we should ignore the advances made in medicine, technology, and society by discarding those advances. Yes with these thoughts and limitations in mind I think we should view the Law as the “standard” by which we should mold our judicial, societal, ethical, and behavioral standards. EdB |
