1 | Is it faith or is it mornal? | Rom 10:17 | carats5 | 21838 | ||
I have been a christian for a few years now. It seems the more I study the bible the more question I have. Is it because I don't have enough faith? Or is it I don't study the bible enough. Here are some of my questions: 1. Do all the christians look forward to the second coming of Christ? If they do, that means the whole world would suffer according to the bible. 2. Do all the christians live for the time of rapture? 3. I think it is kind of sad if a christian suddenly disappear to go to meet Christ and leave his/her love ones. Would he/she been sad? 4. What do we do when we are in heaven? If there is no sickness nore saddness, would we know it is good? Would we be bored? 5. Once a christian goes to heaven, does he/she still possess human charateristics? 6. If a christian is bored while he/she in heaven, would he/she be temped by Satan again, like Eve got tempted by the snake? |

Carats5: You write: "I have been a christian for a few years now. It seems the more I study the bible the more question I have. Is it because I don't have enough faith? Or is it I don't study the bible enough." I see that Tim (Morant61) has already done an excellent job answering your specific questions. As to your more general question, may I suggest: It might help you (or any of us) to lay aside Bible study for now. Instead, focus on reading the Bible for familiarization. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. I would recommend that you read the Bible through in order to get a good overview and to become more familiar with the content of the Bible. Don't feel you have to stop and look up every word and every verse. Just read it for now. Good read-the-Bible-in-a-year schedules are available on the web and elsewhere. In lieu of a printed schedule, if you read three chapters of the OT and one chapter of the NT per day, you can read the Bible through within a year. Or you may find it preferable to take two years to read the Bible through. Either way, I would start with reading the Bible. And for your purpose of becoming familiar with the content, I would highly recommend one of the following translations: New International Version or Today's English Version would be my top recommendations. Speaking for myself, even though I am comfortable reading the King James Version and the New American Standard Bible, I find it profitable also to read the Scriptures in a translation like the TEV or NIV. What version you choose will depend first of all on your reading level. Other recommended translations for general reading (which you will enjoy, much like reading a novel) are the Contemporary English Version (American Bible Society) and the GOD'S WORD version. Let me make this clear. I'm not here to push any particular Bible translation on you. Which translation you use will be your decision. The main point is that you read the Bible through in a translation that you can understand and trust. In all your reading, keep in mind that the central theme of the entire Bible is the Lord Jesus Christ. Someone has said the Old Testament is the New Testament enfolded. And that the NT is the OT unfolded. If you have any further questions, I would be glad to answer them as best I can. Others on the forum would also be glad to help you in any way they could, I know. Bless you, kalos |
