Prayon, Thank you for your insights. Your reply prompted me few more questions: (1) The Spirit Baptism (if different from salvation) recommended for all believers? (2) Through whom we should receive this, obviously through someone laying hand on you? Since we have no Apostles now, the Spirit baptism no longer available? (3) How this Spirit baptism compares with the term "filled with the Spirit"?

Greetings, I don't know if recommended is the word - I think maybe choice is a better word. Each believer has a choice to accept the gift of God or say no to it. I personally think that all believers should ask God for it. Why would any one not want what God is offering to them? And why would someone want to have only "a piece of the pie when they can have the whole thing". I have known people who were "baptized" with the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands and I know people who were baptized through just prayer. The gift is just as available now as it was then. God is the same today, as He was yesterday. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is when you truly become filled with the Spirit. Please feel free to ask any questions you have. prayon |

Prayon, thank you for answering to my original questions. You said that baptism of the Spirit is when you truly become filled with the Spirit. That means you can experience this Spirit baptism over and over, correct?

Greetings Iktoose, Being baptized with the Spirit is like water baptism. You only need to be baptized once. After that the Spirit is active within you and you will experience the Holy Spirit working within you over and over. He can show Himself in many different ways. Sometimes I can be praising God in a room where it is extremely hot and I will start getting 'chill bumps' that start at the top of my head and go to the bottom of my feet over and over. Sometimes it will be by speaking in tongues. All of a sudden words will start coming out of my mouth and I have no idea of what I am saying or the meaning. Sometimes it is by feeling an overwhelming alarm that I shouldn't do something I am about to do like drive down a certain street. Sometimes I will get an urgent need to prayer for someone. When you are ask Christ to come into your life and you are 'saved' you receive the Holy Spirit. When you are baptized in the Spirit it is as if you give Him the permission or ability to totally take control of your life. I hope this makes sense. Feel free to ask me any questions. prayon |

Prayon, here we go again... What you said here "When you are ask Christ to come into your life and you are 'saved' you receive the Holy Spirit." is the moment of salvation, correct? Earlier post, you said "Yes the baptism of the Holy Spirit is different from receiving salvation." Are you saying "receiving the Spirit" and "being baptized by the Spirit" are two differnt things? |

Greetings, I really worded that wrong, sorry. Yes they are 2 different things. When you are saved you give the Holy Ghost the ability to enter. For example, suppose you just bought a house and it did not have any electricity yet. You call the power company to turn it on. They send a member of the power company to turn it on for you. You have given them permission to come, but until you invite him into your house to turn the power on you do not have the power. Once you invite him in he is able to turn the power on. It is the same with the Holy Spirit. Once you have asked God for salvation the Holy Spirit has the right to come to the "door of your life' and knock, but until you invite Him iyou do not have His power. But once you invite Him and He enters you do not have the access to His power. I hope this make more sense. prayon I hope that makes it a little clearer. prayon |
