What does it mean to be "My witnesses?" Is this the same as sharing the testimony of our personal conversion or is it something more? | ||||||

Mommapbs Jesus knew talk was cheap. To be "My witness" means to walk the walk before the world. Jesus called us to salt and light, not chameleons that blended in. The only way we would know many of His “witnesses” today, would be if we happened to see them go into church on Sunday. And I said Sunday since most don’t go near there any other time. EdB |

Greetings EdB - walk the walk without talk? I have many friends and aquaintances who are wonderful, good, moral, kind and giving - their "walk" is commendable . . . some even attend church more than once a week, yet they are clueless about their need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I suggest that many believers are also clueless about the relationship that they have in Christ, hence, no talk. Some Christians really cop out by declaring that their relationhip with Jesus is "personal" so they'd rather not talk about it. But does Jesus want our relationship with Him to be kept "private?" (Go and TELL comes to mind!) Then there are those who have scripted out their "conversion story" and wear it like a medal of honor. Please don't misunderstand me here, I'm not discounting one's personal tesitmony for it is the most important decision one makes, BUT if this is all there is, then what? When we enter into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, it doesn't just stop there! Sure, I'm interested in knowing how one came to know the Lord, but I'm more interested in knowing what the Lord is doing in one's life right now! Yes, we do have "altar stones" of the past to encourage us in the present and give us confidence for the future, but to let our focus remain there makes us stagnant! What are some reasons that believers are silent when they should be shouting the Good News? Lack of understannding of God's Word and the truth of their relationship with Christ? Addiction to the "flesh"? Lack of committment to grow in the Lord? Fear of rejection by others? Accountability issues? Yes, there are way too many "Sunday Christians" - aren't you glad that Jesus doesn't limit His love for us to be expressed just once a week?! Blessings to you on this Lord's Day! mommapbs PS: Wondering if 2 Tim 3:2-7 might describe many in the church today. |
