What happened to Jesus' Disciples after the ascension? Acts 2:4 perhaps gives us a clue. Can you find another Scripture that supports your answer? How might this be significant to us today in our attitude toward others in "less visible" ministry? | ||||||

They decided to have a meeting and vote on filling the place of Judas Iscariot. Then after being filled with the Holy Ghost and being made apostles they met with the people and had church. Now they didn't have bulletins or a praise team, but they gathered with the new believers in the temple at Solomon's porch. There they told the believers about their experiences with Jesus (Acts 2:42-47). It is by our witness that we lead people to the Lordship of Jesus the Messiah. Acts 3:11 You don't have to have your name in a book to show people Jesus. Just pray and be filled with the Holy Spirit. |

Hi! Scripture tells us of the ministry of only one of the Disciples, Peter . . . but what of the others? As I was considering this, it appeared that they were obedient to the great commission.(Mt 28:19) Does it not seem reasonable to you that being equipped with the gift of languages they would go boldy to proclaim the Gospel in the "uttermost parts of the earth?!" The Lord has equipped us with His gifts today. Some of these are more visible than others, yet they are all valuable and should be esteemed as such. Yet what often happens in our churches? Those who serve in a less conspicuous fashion are often overlooked or even ignored. The "missing disciples" most probably were about their "Master's Business!" One point I would like to make - the disciples did not vote they "cast lots" as was the practice. "The lot is cast, but the Lord determines the fall." Pr 16:33 I wonder if we employed the same faith in this priciple in our churches . . . what might happen? t |

I can see everything is taken very seriously and lterally here in the Forum. Your correction about casting lots is noted. I look at the history as men thinking they need to help God when all the time God had a number twelve chosen all the time. Enough of that. It is the those who do the Lord's work in the backround never desiring to be in the forefront that are the real heros of the faith. The cleaner of the toilets, of the glass doors never seem to get the acknowledgement that the stars on the platform get. But don't you think that they do ot want to get their acknowledgement from men. They are about the Lord's work. They are doing to here from the Master "Well done good and faithful servant." Were would the church be if the only one we wanted to satisfy was the Lord. Pride is the hardest thing to overcome so we can die to self and be His alone. |
