1 | Why do some denominations Baptise babies | Acts 16:33 | Hank | 122196
Angel: Please prove that Acts 16:33 includes infants or very young children. .... Examine the fuller context of Acts 16:30-33: (30) "And after he brought them out, he said, 'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?' (31) They said, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.' (32) And they spoke the word of the Lord to them together with all who were in his house. (33) And he took them that very hour and washed their wounds, and immediately he was baptized, he and all his household." ...... Their first requirement was to believe (v.31). Paul and Silas spoke the word of the Lord to all who were in the house (v.32). Then the jailer and his household were baptized (v.33). How can an infant believe? How can he understand the word of the Lord being spoken to him? Acts 16:33 does not attest to infant baptism. It is illustrative, however, of believers' baptism. --Hank

"Please prove that Acts 16:33 includes infants or very young children." Hi, Hank! Show me where it says, in the Bible, that households in Jesus' time were devoid of childrend and infants and show me where it says, again in the Bible, 'baptise only mature adults of x age, young adults of x age, but do not children or infants.' God Bless! Angel |
