1 | Giving them the holy spirit [sic]? | Acts 15:8 | Emmaus | 89553
Ray, I don't see how you can see this as anything other than the same Holy Spirit seen in Acts 2. I believe that is what is being referred back to. I would also note that in the RSV Acts 15: is upper case Holy Spirit. Emmaus |

2 | Giving them the holy spirit [sic]? | Acts 15:8 | Ray | 89608
Hi Emmaus, I agree that Acts 2 is referred back to. However, I would say that it is the same holy spirit [sic]. All of the occurances of being "filled with the Holy Spirit" ,I believe, should be in the lower case. Acts 2:4, "And they were filled with the *holy *spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance." Marginal note [Or, ability to speak out] All versions, including the RSV, are given no help in either the Hebrew or the Greek in their choices of upper or lower case in translating into English. 1) I distinguish between the gift, the holy spirit; and the Giver, the Holy Spirit. 2) The things we receive or are given, are the promise and the gift. Acts 2:38b, "and you shall receive the gift of the *holy *spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God shall call to Himself." From the heart, Ray |
